Cela Sinay-Bernie
MANAGING PARTNER
Cela is an investment professional in the renewable power generation space with a focus on commercial & industrial and small-scale utility power plants. Prior to founding Citrine Power, Cela served as a Managing Director at Altus Power America, a private investment firm and an independent solar power producer. While at Altus Power America, she oversaw the investment of more than $80 million in distributed generation solar assets and spearheaded the company's community solar project platform. Prior to Altus Power America, Cela was the Senior Vice President of Distributed Solar Project Development and Finance at Smart Energy Capital, LLC (a Nextera Energy Resources company) where she successfully developed, acquired, and financed multiple MWs of distributed solar generation facilities in key US solar markets. Previously, Cela was a Vice President of Investment Banking at Marathon Capital, LLC and a Vice President at Lehman Brothers Global Special Opportunities Group focusing on wind related renewable energy investments. Cela spent the earlier part of her career as a strategy consultant at IBM Corporate Strategy and Arthur Andersen Business Consulting. Cela earned an MBA degree from Harvard Business School and a BA in Business Management from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey. She lives in Connecticut with her family.
Timothy Kim
MANAGER - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Timothy is responsible for lead generation and origination for solar and storage projects throughout the tri-state area. Prior to joining Citrine Power, Timothy was the Business Development Manager at UGE, a commercial solar developer in Manhattan. During his time at UGE, Timothy was responsible for origination of Community Solar projects in the NYC/Westchester/NJ territories. These projects allowed Timothy to gain experience in both the development and construction processes. Prior to UGE, Timothy spent four years in the residential solar space in sales and operations roles in various companies including Trinity Solar. Timothy earned a B.S. in Risk Management from Saint John’s University and is currently living in Queens, NY.
Rich Peterson
ASSOCIATE - PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
Rich is responsible for solar and storage project development and prospective property and project due diligence. Prior to Citrine Power, Rich worked as an Assistant Superintendent at Chesapeake Contracting Group, a general contractor serving the Mid-Atlantic region. During his time with Chesapeake Contracting Group, Rich oversaw the ground-up construction of multiple residential construction projects, including affordable housing projects which incorporated solar roofs. Rich also served on the field management team of multiple commercial retrofits, redevelopments, and renovations. Rich’s boots on the ground experience gives him insight into the engineering, design, and permitting processes required for all types of projects. Rich earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University, and later earned a Clean Power Professional through an Imperial College London program in conjunction with NREL. He is currently working toward becoming a LEED Green Associate. Rich lives in Manhattan.
John Baker
CONSULTANT
John is a Consultant to Citrine Power and provides 40 years of experience as a recognized expert in the solid and hazardous waste industry as well as nuclear waste. He provides Citrine Power with consulting services regarding renewable systems on landfills/brownfields. He previously worked 23 years for Waste Management, Inc. and most recently as the Director of New Technology. In this role, Mr. Baker was responsible for developing innovative methods for environmental assessment, containment source identification using environmental isotopes, remediation, and proactive management and design of active and closed landfills. John is the President and Founder of Alan Environmental and resides in Illinois.
